Affordable tankless water heater maintenance,
using only safe, biodegradable products.
This is our primary mission at The Flow of Charleston. We know that the joy of homeownership comes with a never-ending to-do list. Keeping up with that list can be stressful enough without having to worry about running out of hot water during a shower or having to replace your tankless water heater prematurely. At The Flow, we aim to keep your water heater running optimally for as long as possible, so you can get the most out of your investment, and focus on what’s important to you.
The importance of tankless water heater maintenance
Unlike a traditional water heater, a tankless water heater contains narrow tubing that cold water must pass through in order to rapidly heat it on demand. These narrow channels are located in what is known as a heat exchanger, and can easily become restricted by scale buildup from the minerals in tap water. This restriction causes the water heater to work harder, leading to temperature fluctuations and other malfunctions, until the unit eventually requires untimely replacement. Most whole-home tankless water heaters have a life expectancy of about 20 years. To achieve that, most tankless water heater manufacturers recommend descaling your tankless heater at least once a year, and many will only honor the warranty on your water heater and its parts with documentation of regular maintenance. Some areas have harder water than others, but, for most areas, once a year is a good rule of thumb.
Providing a worry-free experience
Many plumbing and HVAC companies use harsh, toxic chemicals to descale tankless water heaters. At The Flow of Charleston, we don’t think you should have to worry about what may be lingering in your homes hot water. That’s why we only use nonhazardous descaling products that are NSF/ANSI 60 certified. If we can’t safely hold in our bare hands, we will not put it in your water heater. Vinegar is an all natural alternative to descaling solution, but as it much longer to achieve the same effects as chemical descaling agents, it is not very efficient. We do not sacrifice safety for efficiency at The Flow. While most descaling solutions are hazardous and not safe for disposal into the sewer system, raising questions about disposal practices, we only use products that are biodegradable without neutralization and safe for disposal directly into the sewer system. Being more effective than vinegar and also non-hazardous, you can rest easy knowing that your tankless water heater’s wellbeing is not at the expense of the environment.
Contact-free accommodations
Feeling under the weather or just have a busy schedule? Our staff is always happy to accommodate. Let us know if there is anything we can do to make your experience a stress-free one, whether it be social distancing or zero in person interactions. This is very easy to do if your tankless water heater is mounted outside. If it is inside, however, more planning is required. Please be sure to make arrangements ahead of your appointment.
